Boost your confidence quickly

 The BECOMING Method™ series week 3 of 8.

This week we’re going to move on to the C in the BECOMING Method - Confidence - what makes you feel amazing?

What can you do when you start doubting yourself or feeling down and need to turn it around quickly?

Check out these simple yet effective tips for boosting your confidence fast!

This week we’re going to focus on what makes you feel incredible, and how to make sure you can recapture that feeling.

It’s so easy to go through life on autopilot, going from one thing to the next without taking time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished or achieved.  

All too often when we do take time to focus on things that have happened, it’s from a critical standpoint, thinking of mistakes we’ve made or things we should have done differently. While that can be helpful if it allows us to work smarter or make better choices, it can be discouraging if we’re not careful. 

Thinking about our successes, or “wins” can have the opposite effect. 

Not only can they be a great reminder of things that we've already done, but they also serve as encouragement.

  • if hard things have been accomplished in the past then why not now?
  • as women, we often minimize our  accomplishments - seeing it on paper can be inspiring and empowering
  • looking at past accomplishments and remembering some of the obstacles we had to overcome to achieve those things can provide the needed encouragement to tackle new challenges

I encourage my clients to keep a paper file of cards, thank you notes, awards, pictures - things that signify “wins” to them. 

You can also keep an electronic file - emails, recognition letters, anything. 

The important things are to make it easy to add to and easy to access. 

When you’re having a bad day, review some of your wins.  Feeling nervous about an upcoming project or task? Give yourself a little boost by seeing things that you’ve already done well. 

It doesn’t have to be big or professional to go into the wins file.  

  • Somebody pays you a compliment
  • A kind post or comment on social media
  • A stranger says something nice

It also doesn't have to come from someone else. If you did something you’re proud of, add it! 

When we focus on the positives, we are training our brains to look for more positive things. 

You can take this a step further and have a Happy File in addition to your Wins List. These can be random things that make you happy. Think of moments you’ve had, music that perks you up, books, movies, video clips, people, quotes … nothing is off-limits. 

Plan a time this week to start a file on your computer or phone, and get a file folder or a pretty box to put your physical copies of things for your “Wins List” or “Happy File”.
