Helping Hospice Nurses Love Hospice Again

Without sacrificing their own well-being.

The Hospice Nurse Well-Being Project™

A nurse-led initiative dedicated to listening to hospice nurses, understanding the challenges they face, and helping create a more supportive, sustainable future for the work they love.

What Hospice Nurses Are Telling Us.

They still love hospice.

Many don't want to leave. They just want to love hospice again.

The work doesn't fit into the day.

Caseloads, charting, and competing demands leave nurses stretched thin.

Self-care isn't the whole answer.

Nurses need practical support AND

healthier workplace conditions.

Being heard matters.

Nurses want to feel listened to, supported, and understood.

These themes are emerging from conversations with hospice nurses and helping shape the support we're creating through The Hospice Nurse Well-Being Project™.

THE PROBLEM

Does This Sound Like You?

You love hospice, but aren't sure how long you can keep doing it this way.

You feel emotionally exhausted or overwhelmed.

You struggle to leave work at work.

You know something needs to change, but you don't have the time or energy for one more thing.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone—and loving hospice doesn't mean you have to sacrifice yourself to keep doing it.

WHY THIS PROJECT EXISTS

Hospice nurses deserve care, too.

Hospice nurses spend their days listening, supporting, advocating, and caring for others. But who's doing the same for them?

After more than 20 years in hospice nursing, I've seen how deeply meaningful this work can be—and how difficult it can become when nurses don't have the support they need.

The Hospice Nurse Well-Being Project™ was born from a desire to listen to nurses, understand what they're experiencing, and help create meaningful change.

Because nurses shouldn't have to choose between loving hospice and protecting their own well-being.

How We're Supporting Hospice Nurses.

  • Hospice Nurse Conversations
Listening to nurses share their experiences, challenges, and what helps them stay connected to the work they love.

  • Connection & Community
Creating opportunities for hospice nurses to feel heard, encouraged, and supported by others who understand.

  • Practical Well-Being Resources
Sharing realistic tools and strategies that fit into the demanding days of hospice nursing.

  • Collaboration With Hospice Leaders
Exploring ways to strengthen workplace support and create healthier, more sustainable environments for hospice nurses.

  • Personalized Coaching & Support
Helping individual nurses identify their biggest stressors and take meaningful steps toward greater well-being.

Our goal isn't to ask hospice nurses to do more. It's to help create the support, connection, and conditions they need to thrive.

Let's explore opportunities to collaborate and support the people providing end-of-life care.

Healthy hospice teams need more than reminders to practice self-care.

Let's explore ways to listen to your nurses, strengthen workplace support, and create a culture where they can thrive.

Meet Jenny

A hospice nurse who understands both the calling and the challenges.

I'm Jenny Lytle, BSN, RN, a Hospice Nurse Well-Being Coach with more than 30 years in nursing and over two decades in hospice care.

I know how meaningful hospice nursing can be. I've experienced the connections with patients and families, the relationships with coworkers, and the deep sense of purpose that makes this work so special.

I also know what it's like when the demands of the work begin to outweigh the support available.

That's part of why I created The Hospice Nurse Well-Being Project™.

I believe hospice nurses deserve to be heard, valued, and supported - not just for the care they provide, but as people.

My hope is to help hospice nurses love hospice again without sacrificing their own well-being.
